Obtaining Open Work Permits for Partners Undergoing Sponsorship in Canada

To initiate the process of extending the warm embrace of family reunification, prospective sponsors are required to express their intent through the completion of an online expression of interest form. Following this, if extended an invitation to advance in the family sponsorship endeavor, individuals will be tasked with navigating a two-pronged application process:

It is imperative for both submissions to be made in unison to PL Immigration within the stringent timeline of 60 days from the date of the invitation issuance. Adherence to the specific cutoff date, as outlined in your invitation, is crucial for the continuation of the sponsorship journey.

In orchestrating a reunion with your loved ones, it is vital to ensure that all paperwork is meticulously completed and submitted within the designated timeframe to avoid any potential delays or disruptions in the process. By diligently following these steps, you take a significant leap towards bringing your parents or grandparents one step closer to building a life in your company on a permanent basis.

Comprehensive Guide: Facilitating Sponsorship of Parents and Grandparents

Commencing the sponsorship process for your parents and grandparents involves an initial expression of interest through a Sponsorship Interest Form. This form is typically accessible at the start of the year for a set duration. It is crucial to act promptly during this window to begin the sponsorship journey.

Upon receipt of an application invitation, it’s time to assemble the necessary documentation. The application package, which should be gathered in advance, consists of the following components:

Attention to detail is essential when reviewing the guide, as sponsorship application fees are non-refundable. Confirm your eligibility as a sponsor before applying, ensure all family members are listed, present truthful information, and submit a complete application.

If you opt to act on behalf of your parents or grandparents throughout the application process, you will serve as their de facto representative. This involves completing, signing, and retaining the “Use of a Representative” form, which must also be signed by the sponsored individuals and included with your application.

Subsequently, the payment of various fees is required, encompassing:

Your completed application must be submitted within the 60-day timeframe specified in your invitation—take note of the mailing instructions outlined in the application guide. An application may be returned for several reasons, such as missing the submission deadline, failure to pay fees, omission of an invitation to apply, or submission of an incomplete application.

During the review process, additional requirements will arise. The sponsored parties will be instructed to provide:

It is imperative to communicate any life changes to PL Immigration, including:

By closely adhering to these steps and ensuring all information is current and complete, you will facilitate a smoother sponsorship process for bringing your parents and grandparents to join you.

How to Apply for Sponsoring Parents and Grandparents to Canada

When you’re invited by the IRCC (Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada) to apply for the Parent and Grandparent Sponsorship, two crucial applications must be filed. One is your application to become a sponsor, and the other is for your parents or grandparents to seek Canadian permanent residency. Both applications should be submitted online concurrently. Here’s a step-by-step guide from PL Immigration on processing these applications efficiently.

Step 1: Get an Invitation to Apply (ITA)

The IRCC randomly selects potential sponsors from those who expressed interest back in 2020. If you’re among the chosen candidates, a notification will be sent to the email address you provided in your 2020 interest form. Checking your email regularly is crucial to avoid missing your ITA. For the upcoming intake, 24,400 invitations will be dispatched between October 10 and 23, 2023.

Step 2: Complete Your Online Application

Upon receiving an ITA, you must apply through the Permanent Residence (PR) Portal. If you have a representative, use the Representative PR Portal. Remember, do not commence your application without an invitation, as doing so will result in your application being returned without a refund.

Step 3: Pay the Necessary Fees

Application fees must be paid online, including:

Step 4: Submit Your Application Online

Ensure your application is complete before submission. This means:

Incomplete applications will not be processed. If documents are missing, IRCC will provide a request letter, granting 30 days to submit them. Failure to meet this deadline results in your application not being processed.

Step 5: Provide Additional Information

The sponsored individual (your parent or grandparent) needs to submit their required documentation, including medical certificates, police clearance, and biometrics. Biometrics need to be completed within 30 days of receiving the biometric instruction letter.
