At PL Immigration, we occasionally adjust our fees to ensure the efficient operation of our Canadian immigration and citizenship programs. These fee updates are regulated by legislation. This page highlights some of the latest fee adjustments and outlines steps to take if an outdated fee was mistakenly paid.
Increased Fees for Canada Immigration Applications Starting December 1
On December 1, application and processing fees for various Canadian visitor, worker, and student applications will see an increase, as announced by PL Immigration.
Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is set to raise fees for several temporary resident applications. This adjustment affects those looking to extend their stay or enter Canada, including:
- Applications to restore temporary resident status for visitors, workers, and students
- Applications for authorization to return to Canada
- Criminal rehabilitation applications, covering both general and serious criminality
- Temporary Resident Permit (TRP) applications
For individuals planning to visit, work, or study in Canada, PL Immigration recommends staying informed about these upcoming changes to ensure a smooth application process.
What Happens If Clients Paid the Old Application Fee?
At PL Immigration, we understand that navigating changes in application fees can be confusing. Don’t worry; we’ve got you covered.
No Need to Worry in Most Cases
When you submit a complete application to Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) using the old fee, usually, there isn’t much to worry about regarding fee changes. Especially when you apply online, your application is received immediately, so you can quickly confirm your submission.
Handling Mail-in Applications
If you choose to mail your application, there might be a delay between sending your documents and IRCC receiving them. During this time, fees may be adjusted. Generally, your application won’t be rejected if you:
- Paid the complete old fee,
- Submitted a complete application, and
- Mailed the application before the fee adjustment took effect.
Additional Payments for Fee Increases
Should there be a need to pay an additional amount due to a fee increase, PL Immigration will guide you on how to pay the adjusted application fee efficiently. Rest assured, we will assist you every step of the way.
How to Pay the Additional Fee for an IRCC Application
At times, when you submit a paper application for IRCC and the application fee changes, you might need to pay the difference if you initially paid the old fee. PL Immigration ensures you receive guidance on how to securely submit the new receipt after your payment.
Calculating the Fee Adjustment
Begin by determining the difference between the previous fee and the updated fee. Remember to account for any fee changes affecting your family members’ applications.
Processing the Payment
To proceed, use the “Make an additional payment or pay other fees” category on the IRCC’s online payment tool. Input the total difference in the “Quantity” field, which represents the new fee minus the old fee. Each payment submission will generate a separate receipt. You can choose to complete the payment in a single transaction or repeat it if multiple receipts are necessary. Ensure you either create a new IRCC account or log in to an existing one to finalize the payment process.
Submitting Your Receipt
After making the payment, adhere to the instructions provided in the original fee request from IRCC on how to submit your receipt.
